News2016 Ottawa Walk for Muscular Dystrophy
The date and place for the Ottawa Walk for Muscular Dystrophy is Sunday June 5, 2016 at Ottawa City Hall (110 Laurier Ave.W).
Registration starts at 9:30 am, and the walk begins at 11:00am.
2016 Ottawa Walk Ambassador
Stephanie Keirstead is hosting this event and will be there to greet you at the walk!
I became involved in the Walk for Muscular Dystrophy years ago after being diagnosed with FSH muscular dystrophy in 1998.
The Walk helps motivate people to feel that they can actually make a difference by supporting those with muscular dystrophy. I would also say that it makes many of us who live with muscular dystrophy feel that we are not alone. I look forward to seeing some of my old friends who I have met through the Youth Conferences in past years as well as meeting with family and friends who walk with me.
I walk to help raise money to fund equipment; research and one day find a cure. The Walk is a lot of fun, anyone can do it, and it helps raise awareness!

The Ottawa Chapter
In 1996 a group of people united to create the Ottawa Chapter of Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
The group currently consists of parents of children with a neuromuscular disorders, adults with a neuromuscular disorder, some of their relatives and volunteers who wish to help us attain our goals. The Chapter provides support and assistance to persons with neuromuscular diseases in Ottawa, Lanark and Prescott-Russell.
The Chapter does fund-raising and plans social events for members and their families. Members of the Chapter are able to access the Community Service Fund to help with the purchase and repair of equipment that is essential for a person with a neuromuscular disorder.
The strength of our chapter lies with our membership. Anyone with an interest in helping us reach our goal can be a member. Join us in finding a cure for neuromuscular disorders.
